Elizario Gonzales Apodaca
Born: September 27th, 1930
E.G. "Chayo" Apodaca is modern Socorro's First Mayor Pro-Tem.
He obtained Socorro's First Fire Truck, served as Chief and still serves as the Departments Chaplain.
He married Matilde Carbajal and they have 4 daughtars and 1 son.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1952
Retired from Fort Bliss Civil Service; after 35 years.
He graduated from Ysleta High School and worked in the Socorro Independent School District, Alternative Program.
E.G. "Chayo" Apodaca also served as:
- Socorro City Alderman
- Socorro City Mayor Pro-Tem
- Socorro Fire Department Chaplain
The place is beautiful. The first word out of the mouths of people that go there for the first time, is always "WOW". Worth visiting. It has served between 135 and 285 people a day. Council's goal was to provide the children and adults in the community an additional choice for entertainment and information for their daily lives. It is open from 8-11 from Tues. to Saturday.
